Math is magic

When you realise that mathematics is the real life tool that is used to model the phenomena of Nature and engineer the transition from physically possible concepts to physically material reality, you will understand that maths is essentially human magic. Mathematicians study what seems like arcane runes of transcendental language and give their power to physicists, chemists, engineers, etc. to manipulate matter and energy to make the previously impossible possible. Every piece of technology, every architectural wonder, every successful economic enterprise, every productive management of populations, everything from pyramid design to the machinery used to fly through the skies and rip the surly bonds of Earth to touch the face of God - all of it - contingent on the study and application of mathematics. Some animals lift little stones or run fast to chase their prey. Humans, aided by this sorcery called mathematics, can move mountains and move faster than sound. We can design machinery to extend our lifespan and manipulate our bodies to overcome disease and trauma. We can construct vehicles capable of exploring underwater realms, soaring through the heavens and even dip into the vast expanse that is outer space to visit other worlds where no other creature may tread. It is the strongest and most consistent discipline you can learn, and it can be used to pave the road from insignificant particle to the entirety of the cosmos.
