It all started when my dad and me were on the train coming home from a long trip up state. I had my riced out Arch laptop with me and I was just listening to music. My dad was talking to one of his long time friends, and he mentioned my computing interest and that I like Linux. My dads friend looks at my i3 Arch rice and suddenly burst into laughter and announced that he was a sysadmin and said that Linux is designed to be a server OS only. He stated that only paranoid crackpots, pedos and mentally handicap people use that server computer for personal use. The sysadmin stated that he uses Windows at home and would never even think about using a server computer for personal desktop or non-sysadmin use. He continued to go on with his slander against desktop Linux; and how open source software is usually twenty years behind the industry. I buried my head in shame.
Then another man on the train in a business suit chimed in and said; Oh Linux?? I manage a division in a IT company and the programmers were begging us "upper management" to let them use Linux at work. We finally gave in last year and it was a massive mistake. Before they would just run VS Code on Windows 7 and 10 just fine, now they are all running this "tiling window manager with cryptic text, and neon colors everywhere. A few of them even had underage cartoon or what they call "ANIME girl wallpapers". They went on about how in the canon show they were several thousand years old and part dragon. I told them "you're a pervert, get help, and you are fired" We also contacted the feds. The sysadmin fella replied: see what I mean, those are the kinda people using Linux. Both men laugh. My dad looks at me with shame and disgust. I just got off the train.
