In the mornings M*ntifex works on the never-succeeding AI project, and in the evenings he likes to read the social wars subreddits such as

Yesterday morning M*ntifex was walking a mile or two and found eight (8) abandoned shopping carts which he decided to return to the Grocery Store which will need them during the Thanklsgiving Rush. But it was impossible to steer all eight carts on the sidewalk so he had to grab a long wooden stick for aiming the frontmost cart. Meanwhile the cute female bus-driver drove by and honked in recognition of M*ntifex, who was becoming fatigued as if shoveling snow for half a mile. Upon reaching the Grocery Store parking lot, some employees on smoke-break marveled at the stoopidity of someone pushing eight shopping carts, but one lady thanked him. Next M*ntifex went to a Japanese convenience store to pay $3.00 for the printed New York Times and to give a "lucky dollar" to a down-and-out guy sitting out front with a cardboard sign of woe. The NYT was amazingly good yesterday and M*ntifex alternated between reading NYT sections and chapters of the 1900 book "Lord Jim" by Joseph Conrad, a book which caused tears to well up in the eyes of the AI progger. Chapter Six was about Captain Brierly who was at the top of his game but suddenly jumped off the ship to his death because he could not stand the shame of what he had done to 800 pilgrim passengers. Back in college, M*entifex did read "The Secret Sharer" by Conrad and wrote a paper about it, but Professor W.M. Dunlop refused to believe that M*ntifex had actually written the paper himself, based as it was on M*ntifex's brand new
