For fuck's sake, don't start changing someone's pronouns if he doesn't explicitly say he identifies as a girl etc.
Also, Elliot all the time expresses how he would like to date girls and that being rejected by girls is the cause of his suffering. This is obviously him identifying as male, not some female lesbian.
