I already have <video> working in my browser using the system DirectShow. Any codecs available will work automatically. Treating the users like idiots because they might do something wrong, or someone might indirectly cause something bad, is not my fucking problem. Users have the final responsibility. Taking freedom away from them because of your godforsaken "but muh security" tyranny is only going to lead to more stupidity. These dipshits are driving Firefox into the ground with their retarded "we must control everything" behaviour.
I think the above reasons explain why so far, no browser or browser plugin vendor is using codec implementations they don't control.
