GCC parsers are now written in C++, because only it can work with lovecraftian templates and C developers will get nauseated very fast when they have to debug anything more complex than class instantiation.
Its inducing visceral disgust to see what C++pples is on the inside, all its "functional, type-safe,modern" facade is just that convoluted syntax sugar and mass of templates.
