There's a difference between undeclared offshore bank accounts, which IIRC, is also not exactly legal on the US, and outright banning sending money on anything western. That's without mentioning that equating regulation on importing (which also happens on the US, see banning mexican sugar importing) with totalitarian control of expenditures is a ridiculous exaggeration. We all know Putin runs a pretty authoritarian show, and is pretty conservative and has close ties with the orthodox Christian church, but this shit is worse than reading Russia Today.
