Because it is a pandemic that caught is by surprise, so there is a urge to vaccinate as soon as possible, so we can go back to NORMAL, that being, remove travel bans, open up commerce 'n shiet, etc.
Other virus aren't pandemic status, so there's no need for such campaign, children get vaccinated regularly and on schedule so there's no need for vaccination as adult (most of the time).
