#Syria #Alavites #AlaviteMasacre Yesterday, a UN Security Council session was held regarding the situation in Syria, during which we heard only vague murmurs about some surge in violence against Christians and Alawites. There were a few condemnations of these violent acts and some praise for the decision of the Damascus authorities to form an investigative commission to deal with the crimes — and that was it.
Russia, through Mr. Polyansky, stated that nothing has changed, except that violence has erupted against minorities living on the Syrian coast. However, his country is the one actually saving the lives of several thousand Alawites — Russia is not mumbling; it is acting, while no one else is paying attention to the crimes.
Now, imagine a similar situation where the President was Assad, and he had ordered attacks on civilians because of their religious beliefs. The Security Council would be holding daily meetings, reading off lists of the dead, and if five people were killed, they’d claim it was 505 — including 498 children. That’s about the level. We’ve already heard from those dirty mouths accusations of chemical weapons use and all kinds of lies that never matched reality.
ASSAD was never interested in letting the International Monetary Fund humiliate his country, nor in allowing the private infrastructure of criminals from Arab monarchies to take root on Syrian soil, and, most importantly, he didn’t belong to a confession that produces extremists willing to kill others for foreign interests, supposedly because of “wrong belief” or “wrong way of believing.”
Those people gathered there just to give the appearance of doing something, when in fact nothing is being done. Alawites can’t be used for dirty purposes, and no one is interested in keeping them on a leash, so they are left to suffer without much attention from the global community.
If Assad had worked in the interest of the aforementioned gangs, he could have “used” chemical weapons, imprisoned whoever he wanted, and more. He could have, as is still done in Saudi Arabia, taken a whip in hand and physically punished women in public squares. No one would have paid attention, as long as he bowed to those who wanted to impose their needs and interests on him.
