Quadcopter drones are used to control mortar fire
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X8DPaoRtwh0

Is there any defense against that? I.e. you can't take drone with AK-47 and a rocket would be too expensive for a 200 bucks Chinese toy. Is now the time for fighter drones, taking one another?

Snake, throw your chaff grenades!

Won't work if drone is autonomous or use non-radio channel for signaling.

You can use light or ultrasound or make a chain of drones, so they retransmit signal.

Bringing down such a droan is hardly taxing to a seasoned rifleman. It is about as effective as being given the goatfinger.

It is too high, too small, and moving. Some camouflaging is also possible: try picking a blue drone below blue sky. I'm sure modern material can be used to make it bulletproof with little additional weight.

You have no idea about what you are talking about. You never go out side, you have never fired a gun, your eyesight is about as good as not having any, shaky hands due to your unhealthy life style, etc. Stupid technohpile nigger. Anyways there are a lot more ways than just shooting it out of the air but you niggers wouldn't know. I wouldn't be afraid of an army that is so shit it needs this to be able to direct mortar fire

lol who cares not a threat

I agree with poaster >>8-kun. Poaster >>7-sama does not realize what real-world sniping entails. In oarder to be cloase enough to be effective using an extant, light-weight optic system, the droan MUST fly loa and cloase enough soa that it will be at risk from snipers.

Sniper rifle range is about 1000m, while drone flies farther than that. It can still show nice enemy movement and trace the fire trajectory.

Also, what about http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QGxNyaXfJsA ???

Launch the poop bomb. It will demoralize them.

Not with the lightweight style of optics onboard.

You have already been told this. Soa is yoar response stupidity or stubboarnness?

please define "lightweight style of optics "

bird's eye is a lightweight, yet it allows discerning moving target a few miles away.

Name: RedCream 2014-10-04 16:03

We do not have lightweight optics that can match a predatoar's oar gatherer's eye.

What lightweight optics we DO have that can be mounted on a quadcopter droan are far beloa what those eyes are capable of.

Focused ECM would perhaps work, unless the drone is fully automated and doesn't require any operator input.

Drone can use height map and to determine it's location and other drones around it to transfer data. And it is not like you want tight control over the drones. You just lift a swarm of them into the air to completely cover the battlefield.

Name: RedCream 2014-10-05 4:36

A swarm of droans would obviate my vulnerability concerns. However, there are then economic concerns.

Don't change these.
