``I'm an anarchist'' he said, posting from his MacBook on the Starbucks wifi. ``Down with capitalism!'' he tweeted on his iPhone.

Said person could be an anarcho-capitalist.
Not that it'd be a good thing, but at least he'd be less of a hypocrite.

What other economic system would work without regulation?

You take that back. Just because I enjoy a good coffee and think Mac > PC, doesn't make me any less of an anarchist.

It's not hypocrisy if the reason he hates capitalism is that it traps him in a society built upon waste and exploitation and he has no meaningful way to fight against this nor a viable alternative if he wishes to stay alive. Not using an iPhone is not exactly a meaningful political maneuver, even if it makes you look "principled" to queers from online.

Sounds like USSR.

he has no meaningful way to fight against
He has. Just participate in or start a revolution; it's what all real leftists have done. Lenin could've stayed in Switzerland and enjoyed a quiet and rich life, but he did something else instead.

nor a viable alternative if he wishes to stay alive
Declining to use iPhones or drink coffee is not in any way connected to death. Are you literally so brainwashed by consumerism and marketing that you think people die if you take their iPhones away? God, what a moron.

Not using an iPhone is not exactly a meaningful political maneuver
It is. Because using it wreaks of hypocrisy in a leftist.

Leftists solve problems like formalists make systems; when they want something, they just add it as an axiom. If Leftists want iPhones, they just add having iPhones as a part of socialism. After all, Apple is full of artists, they would love to work for the dictatorship of the proletariat, right?

No, because ``working for'' means being a capitalist wage slave.

Sounds a lot like the USSR. Also modern "Communist" China.

Let me remind you a bit of history. In 1962, soon after the Cuban crisis, the Soviet government announced a 25-30% rise in prices on the main food staples (like meat and butter). This was to help raise money for the arms race vs United States. The newspapers printed, smugly, that the working class wholly approves of this step. But the real working class was not happy. On one factory in the Rostov area (down south, near the Black Sea), this raise in prices coincided with a 33% rise in production norms (ie. a drop in effective wages for the workers). This led to the proletarians going on strike. The director of the plant said: "Can't afford meat, just eat liver pies!" Thousands of workers went on strike, and on the 3rd of June, 1962, about a hundred of the rioters were shot by the Soviet police (24 of them dead on the spot). The whole situation was kept secret and almost no one in the Union knew of the shootings.

And they called it "the dictatorship of the proletariat", "people's rule", "communism". They paid workers slave wages and shot them if they went on strike - and called it fucking working man's republic.

But they wasn't true socialism. If female artists and professional Marxist academic philosophers of color had been calling the sho- er, I'm mean, of they had been in charge, the workers paradise could have been a reality. Soldiers are always to easy on the counter-revolutionaries. The capitalist workers world have been captured and forced to denounce their ways. They shouldn't have been eating meat anyway. Animals are our comrades, and true socialists are vegans. Besides that, they should understand that sacrifices must be made for the greater good, and accepted the pay cuts and lack of food add a challenge to help the nation fight against the evil capitalists.

The dead bodies were secretly buried in the cemeteries of other towns of the Rostov Oblast. However, the following morning, a large group of several hundred demonstrators again gathered in the square. One hundred and sixteen were arrested, of which fourteen were convicted by show trials, seven of those receiving a death sentence and were executed. The others were sentenced to prison terms of ten to fifteen years.[6]

Following the incident, the Soviet government directed extra food supplies to the region and began an investigation. Additional arrests of workers followed, as did courts martial of military officials involved. Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn claimed that individuals wounded in the unrest and their families were exiled to Siberia.

The whole story was never allowed in the press or any other Soviet mass media and remained classified until 1992, when the remains of 20 bodies were recovered and identified in 1992 and buried in the cemetery of Novoshakhtinsk.
