Who among us has never looked up into the heavens on a starlit night, lost in wonder at the vastness of space and the beauty of the stars? --Jeb Bush

Bush, once seen as the front-runner for the Republican presidential nomination, remains one of the most prominent anti-Trump holdouts in the GOP. In an op-ed for The Washington Post published Friday, Bush acknowledged that Trump had capitalized on legitimate frustrations with American politics.
CNN Politics app "They have given rise to the success of a candidate who continues to grotesquely manipulate the deeply felt anger of many Americans," Bush wrote, saying the nominee harkened back to an 1850s political party. "Trump's abrasive, Know Nothing-like nativist rhetoric has blocked out sober discourse about how to tackle America's big challenges."

I saw a familiar face pass by me. A face that has so commonly been associated with defeat. Jeb! Bush. All alone dressed in a full suit with an American flag pin on his lapel while carrying a box of papers. I froze in place as he passed me and out of sheer ecstasy and astonishment I say “whoa.” I couldn’t believe my eyes. I was probably dreaming. I mean, seeing Jeb! Bush walk down Boylston in front of Emerson College, the school that has more love for Jeb! Bush than any other collegiate institution?! I had to be dreaming …
I run up to him in the middle of the street and my heart is racing. “Mr. Bush!” I exclaim. Jeb! turns around and I am at a loss for words. It is him. He doesn’t say anything really, just a blank, somewhat confused/defensive expression on his face. At this point my memory is fuzzy due to the adrenaline and heavily concentrated joy that was going through my body. I said something along the lines of “I just wanted to say that I respect you for standing up against Trump during the debates and staying true to your beliefs.” With a sheepish smile on his face he says “Well. Thank you.” I ask for a picture, and then he leaves.

In a recent interview with NBC News set to air Monday night, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush described Donald Trump's campaign as an "alternative universe" that will leave Trump's supporters feeling "betrayed."
"The tragedy of this, though, is that there isn't going to be a wall built. And Mexico's not going to pay for it. And there's not going to be a ban on Muslims," Bush told NBC News in a clip released Monday afternoon. "This is all like a alternative universe that he created."
"The reality is, that's not going to happen. And people are going to be deeply frustrated and the divides will grow in our country," he continued. "And this extraordinary country, still the greatest country on the face of the earth, will continue to stagger instead of soar. And that's the heartbreaking part of this, is I think people are really going to feel betrayed."
Bush also acknowledged that his former rival in the presidential race understands the media.
"Trump, to his credit, was very smart at exploiting these kind of opportunities. He's a master at understanding how the media works — more than anybody I've ever seen in politics," Bush told NBC News. "Kudos for him, for kind of creating the environment and then manipulating the environment to his effect."

Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush is returning to his native state to teach a 10-day elective course on governmental leadership at Texas A&M.
The university announced Friday that Bush's class will begin Jan. 6 and conclude before the regular spring semester begins.
He's joining the faculty at A&M's Bush School of Government and Public Service, named for Jeb's father, former President George H.W. Bush.
Jeb graduated from the University of Texas and was born in Midland, along with his brother George W. Bush, who was Texas governor before leaving for the White House in 2000.
Jeb Bush raised an impressive war chest but dropped out of the Republican presidential primary after the South Carolina primary in February.
