There were strong reactionary action against homoqueer marriage in the USA and France, yet both countries legalized homoqueer marriage anyway. See California's Proposition 8 referendum in 2008, for example. The majority voted in favor of recognizing that marriage is between a man and a woman in the state of California and the California Supreme Court even ruled in their favor, but when the Federal courts intervened, they invoked "muh Fourteenth Amendment" and struck it down. That eventually paved the way for national recognition of homoqueer marriage.

Same with France, there were huge protests against homoqueer marriage in France, but former president François Hollande went ahead with it anyway. So it doesn't matter. Same thing will happen in the area of pedophilia, child-adult relationships and child pornography. Who knows, it might take longer than I predict, it might be sooner, but it's definitely down the pike at some point in the future.
