He does have a couple of good songs. As to why literature - who cares? Music is the greatest form of art in the world. Hell, if was on the Oscars committee, I would always vote based on which movie has the best soundtrack. I wouldn't even watch them.

He sings like a bucket of feces, though. I could sing as well as him, actually. Maybe the literature Nobel prize was a subtle way of hinting that his writing is much better than his singing?
