Definitely worth a play if you ever played those old "Megaman Battle Network" games.

When I read your post, I didn't expect something so derivative. Strangely enough, I've been seriously contemplating making a Touhou fangame in the style of Megaman Battle Network for a while now. When I used to play the game as a kid, I always tried my best to win the battles as quickly as I could--often times in one or two moves, depending on the enemy. I often didn't finish the game because I couldn't figure out how to navigate the overworld and push the narrative. In retrospect, it felt much more like a puzzle game they way I played it than the way other people did. I was reminded of the game a few months ago, and it got me thinking about how ZUN chose a nearly all-female cast in part because bullet hells were, by his definition, ``feminine'', in that the required style and grace more than reflex, and I thought about the Japanese ronin anime I watched as a kid and how they always managed to put so much emphasis on the strategy of a fight--the battle that went on in their minds--rather than the fight itself, which usually only consisted of a few moves and then instant death. That was basically the logical strand that made me think about making a fangame like that. I wasn't sure of the art direction, though. Nor the rules. I knew I wanted to make a game that was more cerebral and passive, but I wasn't quite sure how to alter the game mechanics to fit my image of what an ideal MMBN game would be like.

Even if it was, it's enough to stay away from Imgur, plus its forced JS overlay.
