I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you're referring to as Parrot, is in fact, GNU/Parrot, or as I've recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Parrot. Parrot is not an talking bird unto itself, but rather another biological component of a fully functioning GNU system made useful by the GNU feathers, GNU Beak and vital neurological components comprising a full Parrot as defined by POSIX.
Many bird owners use a modified version of the GNU/Parrot system every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of GNU/Parrot which is widely used today is often called "Parrot", and many of its owners are not aware that it is basically the GNU system, hatched by the GNU Project.
