Youtube is genuinely retarded

to see a few more words in a comment/description of a video, i need to click a button that trigger a huge ajax request 1000x bigger than NOT ADDING THE FULL COMMENT. Not only its wastes bandwidth, it makes user to lick Load More 1000 times.
I finally decided comments aren't worth reading and hide them with css. Fuck google shit.

The whole youtube design is really disgusting and slow, the only redeeming feature is its free to use. Once a real competitor show up, youtube will die.

not only that, but it does the stupid infinite scroll shit, which is slow as hell and almost impossible to load all of the comments, rather than using the tried-and-true concept of pages, i.e. page 1 = first 100 comments, page 2 = next 100 comments, etc.

One thing I prefer about Youtube comments (and other social media comments in general, compared to image and text boards) is the relative time stamp. I would much rather see something like "5 minutes ago" or "2 days ago" instead of 2018-08-24 13:50.

What do you think?

if you can't intuit time in UTC, I feel bad for you

if you can't write data to a hard drive with a magnet and your fingers, I feel bad for you

older and more primitive ways of doing things are somehow better

totally not sour grapes

Absolute dates don't change.

"5 minutes ago" means next to nothing, because "ago" keeps changing.

no shit, sherlock
it gets updated for every request

obviously it's stored as an absolute date in a database, but then the frontend uses some sort of templating system that displays the relative timestamp instead

Don't change these.
