No, shipping your garbage to chinkland so you are not neck-deep in your own discarded packaging isn't virtuous, it's racist. Resist recycling and maybe, oh I don't know, only buy goods with sustainable packaging?!

IIRC a sad story about african orphans "recycling" electronic waste from a huge landfill in some african shithole and getting poisoned slowly until they die(due heavy metals and toxic stuff they use to melt the electric boards).
Elsewhere, around 40 men, most in their teens and early 20s, tend five- and ten-pound bundles of burning insulated copper wire. They contain everything from harness wires used in automobiles to USB cables. In Ghana and across the world, insulated wire is highly sought by recyclers big and small, who covet the metal but not the insulation. The task of the recycler is to separate the two substances as quickly and economically as possible.
In the course of a day, perhaps a few hundred pounds of wire are burned, with the remains sold for recycling to local metal dealers and Nigerian traders who frequent the area. Depending on when the insulation was made, the smoke emitted can contain dioxin, heavy metals and other pollutants that pose a strong threat to human health. https://www.smithsonianmag.com/science-nature/burning-truth-behind-e-waste-dump-africa-180957597/ Does it sound very green?

The key problem is "planned obsolescence" where electronic equipment fails after warranty period and forcing the consumer to buy another version(repair is often costing a substantial sum that many wouldn't risk to pay again, so they buy new)

>>6 It said nothing about orphans or anyone dying, just that youths rifled through the electronic waste to find things to sell. If they weren't doing that they'd be nigging out, no doubt, so it's a bit underwhelming as far as sad stories go. Although it is horrendous and shows that humanity must be culled ASAP.

>>9 The orphans is from another story about the same dump and child labor, can't find it, but the Daily Mail states they're inhaling toxic shit while burning the electronics.
