books are persistent, internet is ephemeral. what is the oldest living website? notice how it all keeps changing to the fashions

a book remains acessible without power, read anywhere, takes a long time to go old

Its not about books as a medium, its the book industry and book prices being
not competitive with free websites and articles.
I can read millions of pdfs that would cost me hundreds of millions$ in book form:
beside that i can store them in USB flash stick and transfer to any computer.

Another problem the book format itself is too verbose and built to "create value" that could be
distilled into 3-5 page article summarizing key points without the fluff: that
would save me huge amount of time reading "book-verbose content".

A film based on a book has 60 minutes of content that could be read for a week:
would an average person spend a week to read something at leisure pace, or
watch a hour of condensed book content?

The most salient example of this trend is, of course, OP.

The pressure of occupation and the incessant stream of impressions pouring into our consciousness thru all the gateways of knowledge make modern existence hazardous in many ways.

Don't change these.
