SICP (this time I'm serious)

Name: Anonymous 2013-10-15 5:32

I trolled over a year in 4chan's /prog/ and now I've been lurking here for a while. All the time I've seen references to this book, SICP, that I assumed was just trolling and I've recommend SICP to every other thread to everyone myself too ("Read SICP").

But now, I have started to wonder if this SICP would really be worth reading. I already have good understanding of programming techniques and data structures. I've been working for about two years in programming job.

So how is it /prog/. Would SICP be a good read for someone who already knows the stuff? Where should I buy it? Amazon?

If you've already read it, why do still need to buy it? R U A RTURD?

I haven't read it.

It's worthwhile just for the fact that you will learn how to use Scheme ``properly''.

You are an idiot.

Why don't you just fucking read it? It costs nothing to visit the website.

Time is not free though.

Trailer: You can write apply in around 10 lines of code. If that doesn't catch your interest, I don't know what will.

I see, so buying the book will instantly upload the memory into your brain... Cool. I want your mechanism, so I can read my list of books before I become 80.

Hell, I can do that right now. Show me something cool.
void * apply(void *f(void*), void *a){return f(a);}

I jest, I jest.

Just get it already. Chez scheme works nicely with it.

Don't change these.
