So who am I supposed to look at? Lesley Chilcott? Or Hadi Partovi?

BTW, I saw this video when it came out on Feb 26, 2013. And I saw it as a poor campaign to hire freshies, to dispense them away. One of the top comments had thought correctly: (as I recall the quote ↓)
If entry point to a career is low, the market will move to shift to that field.

Which isn't the case. The field of CS requires multiple disciplines in different sciences, in particularly math. The entire campaign fails to discuss this important fact about CS, and why only 1% of jobs are being fulfilled in the market place.

However, notice how the title is called Code Stars, not Programming Stars, or Computer Stars. All they need is writers, not designers.

I laughed about the fact that Jack Dorsey is into maps, when he created Twitter. It is as if his musing of creating maps led him to write Twitter, will the mobile API, because he "had a very clear goal what I wanted to do, which to see a map of the city on my screen and play with it." It's not like it was designed to map out people w/ their locations and all.

Why did you link to the credits?

Also, lol at all of these kids' aspirations. They'll all end up working at McDonalds.

Exactly! If it is fairly simple to break down problems, why are people breaking this plutocracy, eh?

Name: >>5 2013-10-19 16:05

It's not like there's a cost in training a proper ``coding star´´. Nor does it take 10 years to master and all.

Name: Anonymous 2013-10-19 16:10

At t=1m55s the campaign breaks down:
And only about four thousand grads qualify for those jobs
So you need to be a Grad (stupid filter mechanism), and you need to qualify. Kinda easy, eh?

Tsk.

Can someone explain what are the foundations for this stupid fad? Why should politicians, ``artists'', niggers and other kinds of toilet scrubbers learn how to ``code''? What's so good about making rocking webapps when you barely can add one-digit numbers and can't do algebra for shit?

Are companies running out of Indians? Jewish conspiracy? New epic Reddit meme?

I just skipped to the part at the beginning.
I saw Gabe Newell, I saw Mark Zuckerberg, and I laughed so hard I almost threw up.

Code monkeys. There's not enough typist to write all the code we need, so they are calling for monkeys to do it for them. We know we are building a cyber world, and we need your help to achieve. Unless you too want to be forgotten, as a relic of the past.

Oh sorry, the answer is money/greed(control). They ail to see that paying for education and tools will somehow magically pay for a seasoned programmer that we can abuse in our desires. Its one of those American illusions of ignoring realities. Finland has done it right, and Sweden is just following.

10 years to master
rofl, idiot.

Please use ` and ' for your quote delimiters. The purpose of such convention is to clearly and effectively mark quotations, and using other characters can be confusing, especially to those who do are reading without special unicode fonts installed. I'm not sure what character you posted, but it certainly isn't a single quote.

While you can learn something in a day, to truly master anything, it takes years. On average, it is 10 years, which is what I was going for, since the campaign is for the general audience.

IoW, failure to present, presents failure.

This is not even cringe worthy, it's plain stupid.

By the way, we're not imageredditors, we're not supposed to have epic cringe threads.

The only thing I saw of interest was the SQL book. Anything else on that pile could go to the cat
