C++ books

Are there any C++ books for beginners?
All the books I read assume you have a masters in CS.

I'm not a complete beginner, though. I know FORTRAN, JavaScript, Ruby, VisualBasic, and C#.

why do you even want to learn a language when you already know 5?

A better question would be: why learn a horrible language when you already know 5 horrible languages?

C++ is not a beginner language. So there are no books for beginners.

Most people doing C++ now learned their programming with BASIC and assembly, myself included. I started programming from Turbo Assembler.

Today BASIC is outdated, so consider Scheme as a replacement.

OP was serious? If so, do what >>9 said. Scheme and Racket are great languages to start with, and keep. And this is coming from someone who loves C and FASM & NASM. Why Chicken is always my PoC.

If you're not dedicated to learning and using C++, don't bother. It is a monster of a language and its countless implications means that it is nearly impossible to "master".

My recommendations are C, Scheme or Racket, and Python. These languages are far more feasible to learn and use.

Yes it is.

For goodness sake, at least be respectable when you post that.

Like

#include <stdio.h>
#include <string.h>

int main(void)
{
printf("strcmp(\"scheme\", \"basic\") = %d\n", strcmp("scheme", "basic"));
return 0;
}

Name: Anonymous 2013-11-04 21:35

>>16
ok

<?php
function main() {
$scheme = "scheme";
$basic = "basic;
print "strcmp(\"scheme\", \"basic\") = " . strcmp("scheme", "basic");
}
?>
<marquee id="main">
<?php
main();
?>
</marquee>
