WebRTC is a free, open project that enables web browsers with Real-Time Communications (RTC) capabilities via simple JavaScript APIs.
It's basically p2p in the browser without flash.

now now, peer to peer js could perform as well as any other scripted application that uses networking. Performance concerns aren't my issue. The reason we don't go around downloading executables all over the internet is for security. Apps in the browser give you features while limiting their capability so you don't need to worry about them doing malicious things, aside from browser exploits. Every new ability gained by browser apps presents a new array of vulnerabilities. This wouldn't be so bad if the primary offenders weren't advertisers, like buttons from facebook and twitter, and google. I don't support giving these...things...any more tools at their disposal than they already have. Javascript whitelists should have been standardized in every browser a long time ago. Flash is so bad I'm not sure what to say.
