Why are programmers such pseudo-intellectuals?

I mean you don't see electronics engineers come up with some stupid social commentary about why a particular group of people aren't using a particular (albeit of extremely high quality) brand of tool.

Also funny, my next thought was that you could apply either to either wing. My initial thought was that, as >>11 said, the left is stupid and the right is evil. But there are pushy, self-interested liberal groups, and the bible belt isn't exactly known for its intellectual superiority. So maybe it's better to ask "Stupid assholes or retarded jerks?"
