The entire cause of that continuous invasion was the presence of that link on /g/, which we were against and had no control over. It has brought some nice people from there though, so I don't mind. Even the cunts that came in, I'm still glad I got to know them. /prog/ has been slowly snuffed out by 4chan staff over a course of 2 years.
Also some of prog's former regulars are now attempting to use /g/ as a text board.
