My daughter can read enough Asm to do some cracking and basic RE. That's what should really be happening, teaching users how to get full control over the computers they use, giving them true power and freedom, but instead all this "learn to code" shit gets focused on ultra-high-level crap fad languages and everyone still doesn't know how a CPU really works, so they remain easy to brainwash and persuade. High-level languages give the most freedom because they allow for rapid development. It's rapid precisely because it doesn't submerse the programmer in low-level details like calling conventions, registers and memory management. Being able to quickly throw together an app in a framework and deploy it on some bloated web stack is more freedom than being able to flip every bit in your memory because flipping bits is not the type of shit that most people want to get done.

I've seen too many "developers" whose problem-solving skills are limited to randomly changing code (they copy-pasted from somewhere else) without knowing what it really does, or begging someone else to spoonfeed them the answer - which they'll promptly forget.
