2014: The year of VM on the desktop

Name: Anonymous 2014-10-05 10:41

Why do I give foreign developers access to my SSH keys everytime I $package_manager get some untrusted code? Is anyone looking at npm? pip? Why isn't my banking actvity seperated? Should I run my day-to-day desktop operating system in a VM? (Is this already happening behind my back?)

I'm too old to endlessly play around with new technologies. Which hosts, guests & hypervisors does /prog/ recommend?

So far I'm thinking FreeBSD as host, XP/ubuntu guests for various tasks w/ qemu as hypervisor.

Doesn't OpenBSD have sub-par support for virtualization?
Did you ever find it to be slow or buggy?
