Against Comments

Did Michelangelo leave little notes along the top of the Sistine Chapel, detailing why he chose this color over that, or why the line is curved like so? Does a master watch maker etch explainations along the sides of hears so that someone else can alter his craftsmanship?

Programming it's like art. The details exist only to comprise the whole. It is not aesthetically pleasing to have comments in the code. Once the work is released, it is complete, and the author is dead. The program itself can be appreciated on its own, with no need for further change or input.

Marijuana is Bad
