virtualization without the whole desktop

Why doesn't someone make a wine equivalent that uses virtualization?

Like if virtualbox could render windows programs to an X client or to the mac osx window manager

Why doesn't someone make a spark plug that uses the anus?

Like if spark plugs could spark electricity to a human anus or to the nigger anus manager

Well get on it then, niggerkike. Or do you think that all the programmers off the world are here to serve you? Back to /g/.

Doesn't parallels do something like that? Haven't used it a few years...

Nope, you had it right the first time. "Human" starts with [hj] which is not a vowel sound.

Rootless presentation of applications can be done already. There just aren't reliable, well known free tools that support doing it. Microsoft markets the technology primarily to big corporate customers who demand good VDI for Windows, not for individual use. The situation on the host side of things is slowly improving (FreeRDP finally has near feature parity with old rdesktop, for example) but the guest support is still spotty.

Frankly I'm not sure it's realistic to expect free software to provide this either. Microsoft just doesn't want end users to virtualize Windows. Overcoming that means dealing with lots of headaches of the kind that drive away volunteer developers.

Whether you want to virtualize workloads, build a private cloud, scale your services through a public cloud, or combine all three, Microsoft’s virtualization and management solutions, built on Windows Server and System Center, can help you better manage resources and offer IT as a service. And when you migrate from VMware to Microsoft, you can adapt cloud computing to your business needs.

And offer WHAT as a service?

If you are virtualizing something that runs an X server, can't you just ssh to the virtual machine and enable X11 forwarding?
