What happened to the hacker scene. When I was ten, I wanted to get in all the super leet channels and chat with Neo and hacking the planet, but now it seems to be gone. Somehow, the imminent threat of hackers starting a nuclear war has been replaced with an ``Anonymous'' that uses names and fights flamewars on twitter. Why did things used to be so much cooler? Did all the real basement dwelling faggot geeks really let federal prison take them out of the scene?

The NSA are a spy organization. What they do is collect data on things that affect the US national interest. What this means is that you have to be a smart cookie in order to analyze the data they collect and maintain the IT infrastructure that they use. There is zero point in working at those levels if you're not not a competent analyst, IT admin, or general strategist.
