Question about IRC

Why do people spend years of their life in IRC just trigger 'lmgtfy' links from the bot when beginners ask questions?

they have no life besides that channel and want to demonstrate they're tough/smart/elite vs newbies. They aren't really competent enough to explain things and therefore resort to redirecting newbies to search engines. This solves few problems:
1.Avoiding answering anything saves precious time for fapping to chinese cartoons.
2.gaining reputation as the guy who is above such questions, thus anyone asking dumb enough questions must be below him in the channel pecking order.
3.channel isn't loaded with people who might upset the status quo or interfere with mental masturbation.

4.Avoiding answering anything hides your ignorance.

Ironically, idle people hanging at IRC have the least expertise answering a question. You may as well consult average Joe, when you need a professional lawyer or a doctor. Basically it comes to no surprise that IRC people treat you like imbecile, which you actually are.
