Look at that Haskell idiot and laugh

There are quite a few libraries that try and provide more convenient ways of dealing with monad transformers (typically using those defined in transformers so as to avoid re-defining them all the time and to provide inter-compatibility): the old standard of mtl, the type-family variant found in monads-tf, the more ambitious layers package and Roman Cheplyaka’s monad-classes work.

However, I found that none of the libraries I could find really satisfied me.

https://ivanmiljenovic.wordpress.com/2015/02/02/monadic-yak-shaving/

So monad transformers are so convenient that there are a ton of libraries for them and none of them is satisfying? Boy, do we love monads! Sure beats those imperative idiots who can do stuff without bothering with "monad stacks" and "layers of transformers", right?

Haskell is the premium language for solving problems created by Haskell.

You don't need transformers to work with monads. Rust's type system doesn't support transformers but nearly every interesting Rust program has the Option monad in it, and probably Result too if it does anything useful.

The problem you're whining about is the same as the frameworks problem in JavaScript, an imperative idiot language. Growable languages grow in all directions that do not offer resistance. So with HKTs people write monad transformers, with OO people write frameworks and with FIOC people write "in Python" at the end of every blog post.

The Option monad and probably Result? Just two? Boy, in serious programming you might need to compose 3, 4, 5 monads, and you're gonna need transformers. If you have to roll your own monad every time, then you don't have composability, which means you lose the main benefit of functional programming.

Bitch, I'm not the one whining, it's the Haskell blogger who is whining. Moreover, he actually spent a shitload of time to write that library with a shitload of code that does nothing useful. It's a little bit more than just me whining, don't you think?

I think we, as HUMAN BEINGS, owe it to /prog/, for if it weren't for /prog/, we would truly not have a place to shit-post.

I think we, as /prog/riders, can all come together and appreciate this beautiful website for what it is: A cess-pit of imagination and creativity!

Now, with that aside:

You sound really upset about what that blogger did and wrote. If you don't manage your frustration it may manifest physically as a javascript framework and nobody wants that, not even the people who will upvote it on hacker news.

Don't change these.
