You have to find a balance. Get too absorbed in your project(s) and you'll never leave a computer or pencil and crinkled paper. Devoting your time to other things will make you unsatisfied with your progress. Unfortunately you can't enjoy the activities that most people spend their free time in without feeling you are wasting an opportunity to get to the next stage. Such is the price of being a creative person. Alternatively, find creative friends that spend their time in similar ways. They don't need to be programmers.

I think OP had a stroke while writing this.
Either that or he's shitfaced.

It's hard being a hacker because your ability to type English is destroyed. Hackers, not even once.

I came crawling back into the mud and slime
because I've got some big plans. (I will still
not post into any thoroughly corrupted threads.)
(Which invites a whack-a-mole of corrupting threads.)

I am thinking of learning Perl and re-doing the Mentifex AI
in Perl, so that a Web-resident AI can pull up stakes and
propagate itself from host to host across the Web.
The Forth AI Minds need to be streamlined and simplified,
but it needs to be done in German --
http://ai.neocities.org/untertan.html
-- so that the English mental constructs will
follow the same strict rules that are more obvious
in German. But who would want to re-write the entire
AI in Forth all over again? Plus, it would be cool
to put all the Mentifex AI modules into the CPAN --
Comprehensive Perl Archive Newtork, n'est pas?
http://www.cpan.org/authors/id/M/ME/MENTIFEX/mind.txt

Don't change these.
