Firefox compromised its principles and started include DRM just to struggle to retain market share Firefox includes ads on the front page and "health reporting" by defaults it is a bad browser by bad people.
it is very sad that the only alternative, Chromium, is worse.. since it automatically updates/removes your extensions without asking you

>>5 Why? Why do people use obscure browsers like this?

I'm trying out Xombrero, which is a lighter-weight security oriented browser built on top of WebKit and GTK2, provides basic mouse interface, but also a vi/vim like interface so you can do everything with the keyboard, including running shell scripts within the browser, making things like youtube-dl a lot easier. It's recommended on the suckless rocks page.
I'm having some problems with the font colors, hard to see what's in the address bar, but I don't think I have everything configured properly, so can't weigh in on a verdict yet. This is on a fresh Gentoo install, don't have all of my fonts and shit installed, or X and GTK configured, just using defaults.
If I can work out the problems, I'll probably stick with it because the alternatives are shit. For adblocking, I'm going to use adsuck.

Seamonkey.
>>8 Thanks for reminding me of this project, I used it on Openbsd briefly and it was nice.
The project is a little bit dead now though.

I use Firefox. At one point I had disabled all Javascript, CSS and images, but now I just use Noscript.

Using a web browser from an evil Big Brother corporation? Hell no, it's probably loaded with spyware and sends my credit card numbers to Google Jews.

>>9 Yeah, hasn't had much work done to it in the last year. I managed to fix my problems with the fonts and shit, just had to configure the default style sheets.
I'm going to try surf next, the official suckless WebKit/Gtk browser.
Surf is really pointless. In the end, you are still just using Webkit.

webkit is terrible
i wish it worked then i'd use it.
what i wanted was a chromium equivalent of surf, the problem is that still wouldn't be good because it requires a supercomputer to build

>>16 Not really. I've built it from source on a ThinkPad T520 running FreeBSD before, it took around an hour and a half. You just need semi-modern hardware from this decade.
buy 4GB of RAM to save money wonder why their quadcores are slow&swap all the time.
get 16GB at least and if you have a deal 32GB. Then set a ramdisk and disable swapping. Put the files you use in the ramdisk and make it sync to SSD each N hours.

>>26 I tried but there's an extra input form you have to fill out, and it makes it impossible to post. I think it's there to stop bots dead in their tracks.
