Surprised this thread didn't get much attention. Does nobody read their SICP these days?

Went to a thrift shop (Goodwill) today and bought six Len Deighton paperback spy novels for only $0.99 each: "Only When I Laugh" (1967) "Spy Story" (1974) "Catch a Falling Spy" (1976) "XPD" (1981) "Spy Hook" (1988) "Spy Sinker" (1990) Have now been banned (CENSORED) from Stack Overflow. http://ai.neocities.org

It's good to see /prog/ still has some dank memes.

Indeed, I've seen Altavista grow and die too, and I still remember being on that "Google BETA page" which was then an underdog search engine for geeks. I agree with you that growth is exponential (Law of Accelerating Returns). I even believe a Technological Singularity will take place, a veritable intelligence explosion with strong AI recursively self-improving becoming godlike. However, looking for strong AI today would be like wanting an Oculus Rift in 1996. Remember the VR headsets back then? They were huge and the exp. wasn't very immersive at all.
