I am arguing on this thread that Short's comments are sexist assumption, endorse sexism, and discourage female participation in chess. The focus of my points around participation are mainly on how to disprove his theory by levelling the FIDE playing field for women.

Women under-participate in chess, discouraged by sexism in the chess scene and gender stereotyping in society. To say it is "equal" because women are not legally barred from playing chess is absurd and meaningless in the context of this reality. this is an example of rational discourse which defeats your argument. perhaps rational discourse is not for you.

getting more people participating in chess, of which females are the largest untapped resource, is an inherently good thing to do because it is enriching, people may enjoy it, a champion may be unearthed and chess theory may be advanced.
