Crunchbang used to install ed under the name ??. Maybe Debian does it, too.

Name: Anonymous 2015-09-03 20:21

ln -s /bin/emacs /bin/ed

Name: Anonymous 2015-09-03 20:22

Maybe Debian does it, too.
In debian it is not installed by default.

Name: Anonymous 2015-09-03 23:02

It's okay. I've modified my copy to make ^W and ^U behave like they ought to, unlike how Emacs uses them.

Are you asking for /sbin to become the next victim of the /usr merge?

So use your root account instead of pretending your computer's a multi-user machine instead of a personal computer with one user. Do you like to pretend you're a cartoon character with a vagina as well?

The joke is that the Fedora devs would likely "solve" your problem by moving everything from /sbin into /usr/bin, linking the former to the latter, and then writing a long blog post about how "separate /sbin is a broken legacy and is now deprecated". As opposed to, I don't know, just adding /sbin to $PATH like a simple minded person like you or I would do.

Don't change these.
