Someone was asking about Yannick meme in another thread. It refers to a post that was made on the old 4chan /prog/ a few years ago. I dug it up from the archives for your historical pleasure. Over a year after the original thread was made, a guy said he had faked the whole argument ``for lulz''.

Je vais mettre ma version des faits parce que tout le monde me fait chier maintenant partout où mon gentil client est passé.

Mon gentil client a eu l'air un peu bête quand je lui ai rappelé que l'application était conforme au cahier des charges, ce qu'on a validé ensemble quand on a fait la recette (validée avec des gens de sa boite, apparemment plus compétents que lui-même.)

Le contrat ne prévoyait pas du tout que je ferais la hotline quand un utilisateur serait incapable de trouver une option dans un menu. Option qu'il a fini par trouver tout seul, d'ailleurs. C'était ballot, il suffisait de regarder où c'était dans la maquette qu'ILS ont conçu. Idem, il n'était pas du tout prévu que je développerai gratuitement de nouvelles fonctionnalités qui n'étaient pas dans le cahier des charges.

On aurait pu négocier et j'aurais pu faire ça très rapidement. Je crois que maintenant il faudra qu'il trouve un autre dev qui prendra plus de temps (et d'argent) que moi puisqu'il devra d'abord se familiariser avec tout le code de l'appli. Voilà où l'a conduit ce mélange de bêtise, d'inaptitude et d'agressivité.

Effectivement, j'avais coupé mon portable 48h, le temps où j'étais auprès de ma famille en Charente pour un enterrement. Un message sur mon répondeur indiquait quand je serais à nouveau joignable

Menaces (niveau adolescent cyber-warrior) et harcèlement. Et je vous passe les messages sur mon répondeur. Une plainte a été déposée, évidemment. Apparemment mon gentil client est quand même assez compétent pour éplucher l'historique de tous les sites que j'ai visité.

Je vois pas trop d'où il le sort ça, je suis à peu près le contraire d'un nazi, il l'a inventé pour me nuire. Quand on veut noyer son chien on dit qu'il a la rage. C'est déjà assez dégueulasse de poster mon nom dans un textboard anonyme qui a rien à voir avec l'histoire, en plus on me fait passer pour un nazi.

By the way, you might be amused to know that I am the author of that little screenplay with the angry boss (Freddy) Krueger (from "A Nightmare on Elm Street") and the dumb web developer Yannick. That fiction wasn't meant for a very broad audience (for obvious reasons) but produced unexpected results. The thread even got deleted!

My client had nice looks a bit silly when I reminded him that the application was in accordance with specifications, validated what we set when we made the recipe (validated with people from his box, apparently more competent than himself.)

The contract did not provide at all I would do the hotline when a user is unable to find an option in a menu. Option he finally found himself, either. It was nerd, it was enough to look at where it was in the model THEY designed. Same, it was not expected that I will develop free new features that were not in the specifications.

One would negotiate and I could do that very quickly. I think now he will have to find another dev who take more time (and money) than me since first have to learn all the code from the app. That's what drove this mixture of stupidity, of incapacity and aggression.
