Quit Programming and become a Farmer

The guy rants about the industry and how it is garbage. So he goes and grows stuff on his acreage (wow that's a solution to the problem) and hunts game, digs trenches and ditches. Sounds similar to the guy who quit the industry to grow coffee beans, remember that story?

I just want to program for its own sake. I find "applied" programming distasteful and offensive. Programs should be written for the same reason a god creates universes - for their own sake. Applying programming to some quotidian mundanity in the real world is degrading.

Live life like a monk - earn enough for your daily bread and lodging so you can spend your time programming. After food and lodging has been secured, all you need is programming to achieve satori.
