what is your end goal?

This is part of a bigger project but the immediate goal is a dead simple markup language that any decent programmer can implement a viewer/browser for by themselves.

and why can't it be achieved with existing markup languages?

I have a real problem with current web browser technology, it's been growing and growing ever more complicated for years. It's got to the point that nobody can implement a browser rendering engine themselves. You need a huge team like mozilla/microsoft/apple/google/.. that's got incredible funding.

I think that, even though these browsers are free software it still takes control away from us users because they are so prohibitively difficult to implement.
