DOSBox documentation

Why is it so awful? Why is the wiki useless? Why does it seem like almost every other emu dev promotes the DIY ethic and has well documented source code and detailed wikis and helps users help themselves while all the DOSBox wiki tells you to do to fix specific problems is "here, run this windoze only executable for what ever game it was, it'll install another preconfigured version of DOSBox for you. It'll do everything idiot, you don't need to know anything, don't worry about it, if you need anymore help, don't try to fix it yourself just come to me"

It's simple. It's awful because the majority of people who use it are awful.

This is why it's important to enforce exclusionary practices when reigning over your software project's kingdom. The hordes of parasitic, incompetent, useless users who produce nothing of value and only act as a drain on your kingdom must be kept out at all costs, even if you must bloody your hands. Otherwise, your loyal subjects and contributors will become demoralized and your empire will begin to crumble.

If only the modern Western nation remembered this sage advice.

The Android ROM "community" has the same problem. The typical level of documentation there consists of a forum post with a download link, followed by 300 replies from clueless users nagging the "developer" to fix various trivial issues. Nobody seems to care that the build process for most custom images is totally undocumented and unreproducible.

In the case of DOSBox, I suspect anyone who cares is using dosemu or qemu instead.

Most people are idiots, DOSBOX is popular, therefore most of the people who use DOSBOX are idiots and are only capable of running a windows only executable, what ever scraps of *NIX support we get are because of OSX users being even more incompetent than Wangblows users, but at least they use a real OS.

Because writing documentation is so boring. Who cares about some stupid docs anyway when you can just look at the source and see what's going on.

Isn't DOSBox open-source? if your users don't understand C then why would you waste time writing documentation for them in the first place
