RSS a shit

Name: Anonymous 2016-01-20 14:06

Reasons to use RSS:
- you like to ``go with the flow"
- you are using a script that outputs RSS and you are lazy
- you want to suck the ghost of Aaron H. Swartz dry
- you are a time traveler lying low in the 90s

Reasons not to use RSS:
- redundancy makes you hard
- camelCase makes you wet
- you know that ``feed" doesn't mean ``rss" in the same way that ``the internet" doesn't mean ``internet explorer"
- you know and appreciate ISO 8601 format
- you actually read the specs

:Numbers. Many computations require both numbers and symbolic expressions. Numbers were originally implemented in LISP I as lists of atoms, and this proved too slow for all but the simplest computations. A reasonably efficient implementation of numbers as atoms in S-expressions was made in LISP 1.5, but in all the early LISPs, numerical computations were still 10 to 100 times slower than in FORTRAN. Efficient numerical computation requires some form of typing in the source language and a distinction between numbers treated by themselves and as elements of S-expressions. Some recent versions of LISP allow distinguishing types, but at the time, this seemed incompatible with other features.

Lisp is no different from JavaScript but has been around longer and had decades to fix its mistakes. 40 years from now, the appers may well revere Eich for his ``insight'' as Lispers now do McCarthy.

The key difference JavaScript has:
1.Actual use cases
2.Sane syntax
3.Standards support
4.Performance-oriented compilers(JIT)
5.Non-exclusive community and easy learning curve
6.Rich and rapidly growing software ecosystem
