[$$$] ReactOS Runs Visual Novel!!!! [/prog/ News Network]

TRIGGER WARNING: KIKETUBE LINK https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U5Q1ZSfOsjA [ReactOS and 'Date Ariane' visual novel]
Free (libre) open source software project ReactOS, intended to be a drop-in replacement for Microsoft's aging Windows 95, has hit a milestone today when it was announced that it was capable of dating simulator creatively entitled ``Date Ariane''. Even more impressive was that the system language was in some sort of monkey language. It is unknown if this is done with shitty codepages or even shittier Unicode support. Furthermore, sources say that this game is built from RenPy, meaning that other RenPy novels might work too (though Unteralterbach and some Umineko fan game are the only good ones), and more importantly, that ReactOS is now capable of forcing the indentation of code. Industry estimates are that ReactOS will reach 100% feature parity with Windows 7 by the first quarter of 2017. Truly a time to be alive.

The RenPy one I had in mind was Redaction of the Golden Witch, at https://whabroad.wordpress.com/. It was written by a lawyer, but manages to be pretty good nonetheless. Sadly, a bunch of it is only uploaded to jewtube, which I just found out about. There is another one that pretty good, Witches and Woodlands, which is on VNDB, where the cast plays a tabletop RPG with witches and shit like a bunch of nerds and it devolves into metagaming. It's funny, but written in nScripter. There was also an interactive one made by the same people, but I can't remember what it's called.

I just check and I am displeased to report (again (see https://bbs.progrider.org/prog/read/1435288966/9)) that it does not. No Direct3D because, as expected of a dirty nip, ZUN can't use open standards like the rest of the world and has to be a special Microshit cocksucker. Probably writes 2hu in VC6 on Windows ME as well. Same think happened with Yume Nikki. Higurashi started but threw an error about a "read" at "0x00000000". I don't know what the scare quotes were trying to insinuate, since the rest was in chingchong language. Even more displeasing, it does not run Unteralterbach, so my speculation was wrong on that too. I wonder how they got that shitty dating sim to work.

On the plus side though, the filesystem didn't shit all over itself this time, so progress has been made.

Isn't ReactOS basically WINE? I had no problems with VNs in WINE (after a few, albeit minor, patches), nor Touhou 6 through 12g.

ReactOS does share a codebase with Wine but no, it's not basically Wine.

Come on Cudder, don't be stupid. ReactOS is an operating system that implements a ABI compatible kernel for all windows drivers and programs. Wine isn't usable for many of the Win32 calls, because they wrap Linux calls instead of implementing them.

Come on Cudder
If you insist.

If ReactOS is meant to imitate Windows 95, can it run on modern 64bit computers? And if so, can it run 16 bit Windows exes?

ReactOS
Nostrovia, Ivan! Have you beaten your wife today already?

Don't change these.
