What does /prog/ thing of my GUI derivative calculator app?

https://sites.google.com/site/stepderivcalc/classic-windows-version

It's based on the data-driven pattern-matching algorithm from the SICP video series which you can see here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=amf5lTZ0UTc

The internals are discussed more at length here https://sites.google.com/site/stepderivcalc/internals

Looks nice, but why are you using or writing software for Windows?

To get a wider reach. It's internally developed on Linux, the executable is based on XUL technologies so it will run on Linux also

you can run it on Linux and X11 using the linux build of xulrunner, like so:

$ unzip easyderivsteps19-w.zip
$ 7z x easyderivsteps19-w.exe
$ cd easyderivsteps19-w/
$ xulrunner code/application.ini

The xulrunner executables can be installed from here: http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/xulrunner/releases/latest/runtimes/

Why are only portions of the code open?

I never got around to open sourcing the GUI part but I will do it one day, maybe soon. It is quite complex to build so I would have to write lots of documentation
