"Simple" said of Java? Fuck all the way off. The best you could do would be "regular" or something, but even then it's blown to shit with generics, annotations, boxed vs unboxed primitives and all that.

Also, it's only "maintainable" because IDEs do a fuckton of heavy lifting. The language itself is shit for maintainance, usually even with tool support.
