Birth of the programemer

Name: Anonymous 2017-01-15 15:14

There are programmers like Edsger Dijkstra, Don Knuth, Fabrice Bellard, Terry Davis, Rich Hickey. People who write actual fuck-awesome programs.

And there are programemers. Poopbabbies like coding horror, joel on software, yegge, paul graham. You, if you blog about programming and submit it to reddit.

People that create temporary garbage or maintain horrible software using meme ideas like 'design patterns'. People who hop on board the latest meme languages like haskell or rust. Basically non-thinking robots that just repeat the current memes in order to not have to ever defend their own views - everyone else thinks this way so how could I be wrong? These people never create anything of value or push limits.

So don't get sucked into the memes. If you see a programming blog with a meme gif 1/4 of the way thread close it immediately. Lift yourself up.

How is Clojure better than Haskell? Clojure is Haskell for niggers.

Haskell is not a Lisp.

Op doesn't want people to "get sucked into the memes" and yet, he's a meme meister of his own.

It's more of a LISP than Python is.

The absolute failure of the functional programming scam created a market for more criminals to rationalize why it failed. These rationalizers are able to push anything they can imagine.

Backus said functional programming is good, but it's unpopular. My scam is also unpopular, so it must also be good, but you are too stupid to understand why.

All of these articles and blogs follow this line of reasoning.

Lisp and Haskell are good because nobody uses them.

OP, you're overestimating programemers. most of them don't even blog about programming anymore, they're more concerned with project management, startups, recruitment, code of conduct and latest expensive /g/adgets.

Don't change these.
