lua instead of javascript

will the arrays start at 0 or 1?

Who asked for this?

I'd like Lua to stay alive but 'making language X compile to JS' is so common that it probably won't help much.

Both languages need to die tbh

I dunno, Lua has some interesting ideas and despite some quirks it's nice to use. JS is a bigger mess than Sepples, and it doesn't even have the performance of Sepples.

Because it's a dynamic interpreted language.

so? I can tolerate slow dynamic languages if writing programs in them is not a pain in the ass and I can kinda tolerate cumbersome languages if their cumbersomeness is a result of some kind of tradeoff (although I'd rather use C or FreePascal than C++ for low-level stuff) and I'll get something in return. a language that's both slow as hell and annoying to use is pointless

Part of that stems from the fact it's still that way in order to not break old sites.

the same is true for Sepples - it wants to maintain as much compatibility as possible with both old C++ code and with C.

also, will you please check my repeating digits?

That is true. But Javascript was made in 10 days, after all.

Yo dawg, we heard you like scripting languages, so we put a scripting language in your scripting language so you can script while you script.

Name: Anonymous 2017-07-26 20:29

>>13
I like to do that while writing VN scripts.

I don't touch webdev with a 10 foot pole, but from what I've gathered, one of the biggest problems with js is that there is a new hyped framework every n months. I don't know why the fuck this happens but it will continue to happen with Lua.
The problem is too shitty developers, shitload of indians and hipsters writing mediocre code, and of course brogrammers.

And so when browsers switch to Lua, a new completely messy lua dialect will evolve for backwards compatibility as w3c keeps adding pointless features to the standards.

The web needs to die altogether.

Everything will eventually compile to js.
Operating systems, Consoles, Games, Languages etc will be emulated
JavaScript is the common web layer interface just like TCP is a standard protocol.
People who didn't see it and pretend JavaScript is just a fad are deluded:
Web and JavaScript are now as interdependent as ever. Its not 2004 anymore.

WebAssembly isn't supported as widely as JavaScript and doesn't obsolete the existence of it.

Name: Anonymous 2017-07-27 18:03

>>19
Do you not understand what ``eventually'' means?

Name: Anonymous 2017-07-27 18:57

>>20
It won't obsolete it eventually either

Name: Anonymous 2017-07-28 5:10

In some cases they may have to emulate behavior that the host hardware or operating system don’t offer so that WebAssembly modules execute as-if the behavior were supported. This sometimes will lead to poor performance.

Name: Anonymous 2017-07-28 19:40

It's already supported in most major browsers.

Name: Anonymous 2017-07-28 23:13

>>23
but will it be supported in
Cudder
's browser?

You don't need webasm to pass acid2.
