Black Girl Programming

Name: Anonymous 2017-10-13 20:23

So, I'm a black girl that's gotten really interested in programming and game design over the past few years. My current project is a fantasy rpg that takes place in a modern city. The main character is African American and I would like the NPC's to be diverse in order to realistically represent a metropolitan area.

I've been having trouble finding assets that fit what I'm looking for. Has anyone else had this issue? Am I looking in the wrong places?

If it matters, I'm using Game Maker 2. The game will be 2d and not pixel based. Eventually I would like to create my own sprites using spine animation, but I have some work to do before I'm that proficient. I don't mind paid assets. However, I am hesitant about commissioning an artist, because on past (non-gamedev) projects it's slowed me down a bit.

Any insight is highly appreciated!!

On the Internet, nobody knows you're a black girl.

Hello. Do you have any code to share? Is your project open source? I'd be interested in taking a look at it.

They're probably both redditors.

90% of you have reddit accounts, you just deny it.

Admittedly, I do have one, but I haven't used the account in at least seven years and it has a grand total of one (1) post. I strictly lurk on Voat nowadays, which is far superior.

Speak for yourself, redditor.

I'll admit I also have an account because it started off as a better version of slashdot. But things went downhill quickly and I left before they even had subboards

Don't change these.
