What is this ``implying'' a quote from? Can you provide a source?

Nope. Just like the Hooktube derails, no thread is safe from the ``implying/who are you quoting?'' debate, no matter how good that thread might be. But who is responsible for derailing the thread, you might ask? If you ask one side, they blame the other, and vice versa. And so they shamelessly carry on with this neverending debate, never once taking a second to wonder as to whether or not what they're doing is worth the time invested.

Both sides are the same person.

>>74-77 is clearly not the same people that are arguing over quotes. It was an obvious bad joke by one person.

I wonder if WebAssembly will ever be as viable an artistic platform as Flash. Everyone keeps talking about it, but I still have no idea what it really is.

Flash has already been superseded by html5
All major browsers will end support for flash pretty soon

You say that--and you're right, as far as practical things go. html5 implementing DRM has de facto deprecated Flash as far as practical necessity, but I still wonder about artists who might not necessarily be able to handle nor care for writing in WA or however the hell it works. The entry bar for Flash was extremely low, and that's what made such a blossoming scene. It might be technically true that html5 can do anything Flash could do better, but through what means? Is there really a true, modern counterpart for Flash? When push comes to shove, and, say, I was a Flash artist, what the hell am I supposed to do, now, as Flash animations/games return to being a niche thing? Also, I think all browsers except lts releases have dropped Flash support by this point.

I eventually see all flash content being converted into HTML5 video at some point.

That's not an easy task.
It's a real shame Shumway isn't going to be updated any time soon.

Unlikely.

I was going to write a response, but then I realized that all of you would just ignore whatever I would have to say, anyways. And it doesn't help that none of you know what you're talking about.

Not him, but why do people program video games mostly in it if it's worse?

Name: Anonymous 2018-01-01 5:12

>>113
Because lots of people have been taught terrible programming practices Popularity ≠ quality.

Name: Anonymous 2018-01-01 5:20

Nobody writes a video game in order to prove their programming excellence. You can throw +10 video game programmers at a wall, and you can expect a basically linear trend as to how long it would take to finish a video game project, because video games are fundamentally simple, regardless of scale. Because when you write a video game, you already have a solution in mind: what your artists want. Video programmers are just practitioners who are subservient to their directors and the artist by proxy. Which isn't inherently bad, but it's a totally different paradigm, part of the reason why Wine can very easily emulate many video games but not a lot of practical software like office suites without a lot of complicated hooks and direct effort from their developers.
