Blockchain is a useful technology.
Cryptocurrency OTOH is a waste of electricity and doesn't scale(or in case of POS a blatant scam). People believe that """"their"""" Xcoin is worth Ydollars but in reality its just a few hashkeys that can be bruteforced and stolen/hacked. There is no actual ownership, you just have a stake in some digital token scheme.

Where is the programming in crypto currency?

Bitcoin is the only ``cryptocurrency'' and for good reason. If you could just replace it, it would be completely worthless.

Nope. There are at least 1530 cryptocurrencies and list keeps growing(as well as graphic card sales)

I bet I could make a coin unironically based on dubs and people would pay USD money for it.

It reminds me of that MIT project of generating fake journal articles and some shit journal accepted one of them.

That's not an MIT project: that's real life, and there's dozens upon dozens of fabricated articles being churned out of an Indian sweatshop every single day at the behest of publicly traded corporations looking to skirt the law.

They are a stupid waste of energy.

Considering that coins based on the doge meme have existed before, idiots have seriously ``invested'' burning money is no investment in them, got fucked when the authors diluted everything, and then still defended and wasted money on them, you probably have a business model here. Sure, the model is ``redditards = retards'', but since their stupidity isn't going to run out any time soon, it's very sustainable.

that's nothing. the real winners are the petty drug dealers on darknet circa 2012 who were casuallly selling dime bags. some of these guys are sitting on $50+ million.

Don't change these.
